The Assembly SF

As soon as photos started emerging of The Assembly I knew it was going to capture my design loving soul. I quickly signed up for a panel discussion called “designing experiences” on opening weekend. From the moment I stepped in the oversized doors I was BLOWN AWAY. So much thought and love went into the space, even the bathrooms! I personally loved the dark and moody crystal bathroom but you might fancy the eucalyptus one. 

The building itself is an old two story church with so much character. The white walls leave you with a sense of calmness, while the pillows and textures keep your creative senses alive. All the entire interior design was done by Rich and Sara from The Joshua Tree House with assistance from artists: Aleksandra Zee, Katie Gong, Heather Day and Fire On The Mesa.

Event Recap: Earth Mandalas with Morning Altars

I first encountered Day Schildkret’s beautiful Morning Altars at Wanderlust Yoga Festival in Squaw Valley in 2015. Throughout the weekend I kept coming back to his mesmerizing altar. I found myself meditating around it, eating most of my meals near it, and then joining in the closing ceremony of the altar. I was in awe.

When starting The Creative Divine I had high hopes of getting Day to teach a workshop, so when he agreed I was ecstatic and I knew one of the only places suitable would be Golden Gate Park. Not only did we luck out on a beautiful afternoon, but this was one of the best groups yet, with people from all ages, genders, and backgrounds.

The workshop began with a yoga flow and meditation. Day then walked us through his seven steps for creating an altar - one of which is to truly connect with the earth - talk to it, touch it, listen to it. Foraging for your altar is a large part of the process and it was remarkable to see what everyone found to use in their work. The workshop concluded with us all gathering around each person’s altar, where we listened to their process and their intention behind their piece. It was so touching to hear everyone’s thoughts and to see how each altar was completely different, stunning, and unique.
